Peer Mediation Training

May 9, 2025

Six of our fantastic Year 12 students recently took part in delivering a two-day Peer Mediation training programme to Year 5 pupils at St James, Sudell and St Barnabas primary schools, in partnership with Mr Harper from Quakers.

The programme, designed to equip younger pupils with the skills to resolve conflict in a positive and respectful way, encourages empathy, active listening and cooperation. After completing the training, the Year 5 pupils are now prepared to take on the role of peer mediators within their own school communities—supporting their peers in navigating disagreements constructively.

What made this project even more special was the role our Year 12 students played. Not only did they support the delivery of the sessions—they led activities, modelled techniques, and inspired confidence in the younger pupils throughout. It was fantastic to see them stepping up as leaders, mentors and role models, making a real and lasting impact.

Well done to our brilliant Year 12 peer mediators: Rihanna, Dylan, Eilidh, Eva, Muzna and Elsa.

And a big thank you to Mr Harper from Quakers for guiding the programme, and to the staff and pupils at St James, Sudell and St Barnabas for welcoming us so warmly. This was a fantastic example of young people empowering one another!
