University Life at Oxford

Some of our D6 students recently visited Oxford University for an exciting introduction to university life, giving them a valuable insight into what studying at a top university could look like in the future.

The day began with a tour of the college, where students were able to explore the historic surroundings and get a feel for student life at Oxford. They then took part in engaging subject taster sessions, which gave them the chance to experience learning at degree level and explore areas of academic interest in more depth.

Afterwards, students enjoyed a shared dinner before finishing the day with games in the common room, allowing them to relax and connect with other students in a university setting.

The visit provided a real sense of what university life could be like and certainly helped to spark ambition and inspire future goals.

One of our Year 12 students, Ray, reflected on the experience, saying:

“The Access Project introduced me to a list of top tier universities which supported my university research. I’d like to go to the University of Manchester and study history. They have a museum you can work at. I think history is important and I want to help children to enjoy history.”

A huge thank you to The Access Project for organising and supporting this fantastic opportunity. It was an inspiring experience for all involved and an important step in supporting our students’ future pathways.
