We offer a unique opportunity to start your career in film production whilst completing this level 3 qualification. Every student on the course has opportunity to experience work on film sets and shadow industry professionals in real production work. The course cumulates in an international film festival that is hosted on site. Students have the opportunity to have their films screened alongside industry professionals and to establish relationships with them.
Our Film Production course provides an innovative grounding in the technical processes, creative skills and production practices necessary for a career in the cinematic arts. From the outset, you will partake in film screenings and production workshops to develop your identity as a filmmaker. The course was designed and is taught by a practicing independent filmmaker with a directing portfolio of internationally acclaimed short films. You will be taught to a high technical standard through the craft of script writing, producing, genre filmmaking, cinematography, editing and other roles that are instrumental to further study and employment in the moving image sector.
The course is assessed through coursework which takes the form of assignments and hands on production of film.
Many students go on to further study at highly prestigious universities such as The Northern Film School. Throughout the course you will develop skills and knowledge of all aspects to support you to make an informed choice of how you wish to specialise. Students go onto a range of further studies such as directing, script writing, sound, animation, camera operations and much more.
Employment need in this area is high with Level 3 qualified students being highly successful in transferring straight into employment or further education. Both University study and freelance work straight out of this course are routine progression routes with 64% of students receiving an unconditional offer at university last year.

Your English and maths GCSEs must be at least grade 4.
At least five 4s at GCSE. A grade 4 in math, English language, or literature, and a grade 3 in the other subjects is required.
